Singer-songwriter Micha Biton, a pioneer in the ethnic-rock genre of Israeli music, released his critically acclaimed Live album in November 2016. Micha's mesmerizing concert, From Sderot to Jerusalem, utilizes anecdotes and songs to tell his unique life story. In his career, Micha has given sold-out concerts in Israel's most popular venues and has traveled the world to perform both solo and with his band.
Micha's life changed drastically on October 7, 2023, when his home, Moshav Netiv Ha'asara, less than a kilometer from Gaza, was attacked by Hamas terrorists. He and his family barely escaped after spending 13 hours hiding in their safe room. Twenty-two of his neighbors were among the 1,200 people killed across southern Israel during the assault. He now lives as a refugee in Tel Aviv with his wife and three of his four children (a married daughter lives in Arad). His guitar was the only possession that Micha took with him when he was evacuated from his home.
"When people call to book a performance, they ask me whether I can talk about October 7. I ask them if they want to hear about it." Micha said he realized that playing the guitar and singing his music is healing, and more than that — it's resurrection. "I have learned to tell my story from a place of light and faith. How? Because we survived. Because our prayers and God saved us. Because we made it out of the inferno and met people who are embracing and lifting us up. There is a lot of light and power in that, despite the pain for all those who were not so lucky. There is no doubt that, if your life was saved, there is light."
Swan Lake is a classic, tragic love story ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, choreographed by Marius Petipa & Lev Ivanov, and restaged with additional choreography by Ormond Ballet's Artistic Director, Michelle Boutros. Our story begins with Prince Siegried celebrating his 21st birthday. The Queen Mother reminds him that it's time to pick a wife. Upset by his mother's request, he embarks on a hunting trip where he discovers Odette, a princess who was captured and transformed into a white swan. Struck by her beauty, he vows eternal love, unaware that her captor, Baroness Von Rothbart has been watching them. Baroness Von Rothbart has cast a spell on Princess Odette that can only be broken by her one true love. To prevent the couple from breaking the spell, she tricks Prince Siegfried into declaring his love for her daughter Odile at the ball the Queen Mother hosts for her son to choose his wife. Believing that Odette has come to him in masquerade, the prince happily selects Odile as his bride and unwillingly breaks his vow to Odette, dooming her to remain a swan forever. In the final scene, a heartbroken Odette and regretful Siegfried reunite and destroy the evil sorcerer and walk away together in peace.
